Logan Everidge The Eye of Minds By, James Dashner Quote: "This mortality doctrine program hidden somewhere inside the VirtNet. We need to find both the man and the mortality doctrine. Will you help us? (p.31)" This quote is important because it is basically starting off the adventure for Michael and his friends, Sarah and Bryson. They have to go through multiple challenges to stop the man named Kaine. It challenges their hacking cleverness and bravery skills. The mortality doctrine is something Kaine uses for his plans. In normal video games, you die and can start over. The challenges in this book for Sarah, Bryson, and Michael  prevent them from starting over when they die.

Abby Jerome The Summer I Saved the World in 65 Days   By: Michele Weber Hurwitz Quote: “That there are a lot more good people in the world then bad.” This quote means to  me that if you really set your mind to it, you can make the world a better place. You can make a difference even if you just do the little things. People can have trouble changing but, then can do it. Eli from the story changes a lot. At one point it feels like he is a whole other person.

Corinne Quaglieri The War That Saved My Life By, Kimberly Brubaker Bradley Quote: "Stupid. Simple. Educable. Thoughtful. All just words. I was so tired of meaningless words" (p.90). This quote is important to the story. It is important to the story because it is when the main character starts to realize that even though she got away from her mother, it wasn't  going to be all smooth sailing. She is getting tired of not knowing simple things, such as the meaning to some basic words. She feels left out as well. Even though she's with a new family for the time being, she still doesn't get all the opportunities her brother does. She still doesn't get the same freedom.

Jadyn   Cunningham Unstoppable By, Tim Green Quote: "The pressure behind his face pushed tears free from his eyes, sorrow mixed with joy and tears of love for the friend he had lost and for those who had believed in him. Harrison felt it then, as he ran through the night-he felt it, and he knew it. He was unstoppable (page 343)." This quote really reminded me of how many people go through times like Harrison had. Some people were able to live through it and fulfill their dreams and some, they just gave up on themselves. Harrison never gave up, and even though he had lost the ability to use his leg, he still worked harder and harder to strive for his dream. Then that one day where he was standing on the field, thrusting through bodies, running his heart out, he knew that he finally made it to where he dreamed of being.

Travis Golden Unstoppable By, Tim Green Quote: "The crack of Mr. Constable's skull was what Harrison remembered most, like a cobblestone split by a heavy sledgehammer."  This quote is important because after this terrible incident, he thought he wouldn't go to a nice family that cared for him, yet he still did.

Cam Plona The Rule of Thre3      By Eric Walters My Quote : "Throughout this whole situation I'd been entrusted with information that almost no-body else knew, information that made me feel older, weighed me down." *nobody is spelled "no-body" in this text* My response : Sometimes your friends or family tells you things about a person that maybe you didn't know that may make them seem like a different person than you think they actually are. Say maybe you have a new friend that you have been getting along with very well, but your family tells you that this person comes from a 'bad' family that may not be the safe for you to be around and maybe not even a safe place for that friend. For instance, that friend could have a bad history that you find out about, your friend does not know that you know about that bad thing about him or her. You could be with them and they say something that makes you remember that bad thing about t...

Hello 8th graders! I hope everyone is having an amazing summer so far. I have been enjoying the beautiful weather and doing lots of reading (especially on the beach!). Right now, I am currently reading Blink Once , by Cylin Busby. If you remember, this book was on the Isinglass Teen Read list last year. The book is about a boy named West who is in the hospital after a bike accident. He is paralyzed and can't speak. He meets a girl in the hospital named Olivia and she begins to visit him regularly. His only response to her is by blinking (hence the title). They begin to form this relationship and West realizes that he is starting to have feelings for Olivia; however he is going into surgery soon and there is a small percent that he might not make it. The book is told in 1st person point of view, so we can really hear what West is feeling. He is aware of everything that is going on around him, but he can't talk. I can't imagine being in that situation! I am almost at the ...
