Abi Jones 8th Grade The Grimm Legacy Author: Polly Shulman Page: I read it on a device when I found it so, pg 1 "Evil is real but so is good" -Elizabeth Rew I feel that this quote is important/memorable because it's saying although there are lots of bad things there are good things as well. Like, there is darkness, but also light. Maybe a way to see it is when there is a lot of bad at one time, you've only to remember that there is good as well.

Abby Jerome 7th Grade "There's no place for the living." Blink Once By: Cylin Busby Page 175 In my opinion my quote is important because, it tells you that there's no place for us being here. We are here not by choice but, because we were formed. Some people can think of a reason why we are here. But, what is the main reason we are here. There's no real reason because there's no place for us.

Spencer Wentworth 8th Grade Book: Blink Once Author: Cylin Busby Page number quote was found on: Page 288. Quote: As I walked out of the shade and into the sun, the warmth hit my face, my shoulders. I left the darkness behind. As we pulled out of the parking lot, I didn’t look back. I had what I needed, with me. Inside me. Always. The Reason of Choosing the Quote: I choose this quote because it was inspiring. West had met Olivia when he was in the hospital and didn’t really know what was going on. He had come to like her and be good friends with her. After he had his surgery, he was told something he didn’t believe when he asked to talk to Olivia. He went through a lot of trouble to find out if it was true or not. When he had figured it out, he left the negative of the situation behind. He had what mattered to him and he would never worry about it again.

Kyle Welch 7th Grade “Over the years here I’ve learned that a great loss is also a great gain.” Dr. Rust, The Grimm Legacy This is one of those amazing quotes I just have in the back of my head in case of days where I want to forget it ever happened. the reason this quote is quotable (Get it?) is because it is extremely positive and ties into the rest of the book perfectly. (I can’t tell you why, its a spoiler) What he meant was that even though you lost something you may gain something out of it

Will Graff 7th Grade The Paladin Prophecy “You know the old saying,” said Nick. “Keep your friends close and your enemies dead and buried in the basement .” Ha-ha. Murder. Very amusing. Although this quote is funny, I think it says a lot about the story and the constant pressure faced by the main protagonist , Will West. This quote is essentially the gist of the story, Will has a group of strong loyal friends, which are all needed in order to figure out what’s happening in the center, who’s trying to eliminate them, and do they have super powers? There enemies are everywhere and ready to strike at all times! WILL THEY MAKE IT OUT ALIVE??? Hmm… Probably. If this got you interested then you should check out The Paladin Prophecy!

Grace Robert 8th Grade Book: The Grimm Legacy By Polly Shulman Chapter Four, Page 42 Quote: Mr. Mauskopf smiled. “I remember that excitement.” He said. “Before I started working at the repository, I never thought much about objects. To me a spoon was just a spoon. Then my supervisor put me on Stack 9, then I saw thousands of spoons, all different sizes and shapes and patterns and uses. I realized they didn’t just appear by magic. Someone had thought about each one and decided what it should be like, what shape, what to make it out of. It was like a whole new world opening up. I think that’s when I became interested in history.” My Response: When I saw this quote I knew this was the one I was going to use. It really could describe how people can have connections with objects in certain ways. Like owning a stuffed animal from your childhood, or having a hobby, like for example sewing. When a person begins to do something like that, they really begin to pa...

Emma Kovalcik 8th Grade Book; Shadow and Bone Author; Leigh Bardugo Page:269 Quote ;" I just worried. I worried that Mal regretted his decision to come after me. I worried about the impossibility of finding the stag in the vastness of Tsibeya. but more than anything, i worried about what the darkling might do if Mal and i were captured." I think this quote was especially important to the story because it reminds the reader of all the sacrafices Mal and Alina had made in order to accomplish what they have and it reminds you that though the Darkling seemed so charming and helpful that he is actually a great evil conflict that will come and ruin what seems like could be a succesful escape( haha i don't see why they didn't suspect it from the beginning.. I mean his name is The Darkling ). And also , looking back , i read the quote differently. Both in a different tone and mindset. I realized that at that moment in the book Alina did know what would happen if ...

Taylor Bennett 7th Grade Starters by: Lisa Price pg.329 " If you want to find out which parts were real, come join me." I think this quote describes the important aspects of the book. It is relevant to parts later mentioned where she falls for Blake, a boy she meets while The Old Man, owner of the prime destination, was in his body. "which parts are real" relates to The Old man lying so you can figure out what kind of person he is. Although, this quote doesn't describe all the characters in the book (only Callie, the protagonist, Blake, and The Old Man), it is still important to the story.

Sam Janelle 8th Grade Title: Strike Three Your Dead Author: Josh Berk Page: 11 Quote: "The choices were in two categories: "the arts" and "the smarts" and my answer was I'll take the farts". This summer I read Strike Three Your Dead by Josh Berk for my summer reading project. I picked that quote because this summer I had zero                                              desire to read anything so this quote was kind of moral boosting for me.                                        There was a few other humorous moments but this was by far my favorite.
Image
Lindsey Mount 7th Grade My book I chose this summer was Reboot. The author of the book is Amy Tintera, and the quote I chose for my book was on page 237 on the last section at the bottom of page 237. My quote or sentence I chose: ‘My brain didn’t want to run but my legs carried me anyway, floating over the dirt and grass faster than a human could keep up with.’’ The reasons I chose this sentence as my quote and why i think it would make a great quote was because, the wording and word choice in the sentence is very good like instead of saying “my legs made me run” or,  “they wouldn’t let me stop” , it said “carried me anyway” which i believe was a very good choice. I also chose this sentence because of the way its written and the way it sounds is amazing its like part of a  poem too not only just a quote.   lastly I think its worthy of being a quote and would make a good quote because, the meaning of it is very deep I think I believe its saying t...

Michaela Dymond 8th Grade Book: Counting by 7s Author: Holly Goldberg Sloan Page: 355 Quote/few sentences: This is one of the secrets I have learned in the past few months. When you care about other people, it takes the spotlight off your own drama. 50+ word paragraph: Those few sentences are important to the book Counting by 7s because Willow the protagonist loses her parents in a car accident. So she now has drama in her life. After the accident Willow talks to the guidance counselor Dell Duke. After a few sessions with Dell Duke, Willow walks in on a session with a girl named Mai and Quang-ha. After Willow walked in on the session Mai and Willow got closer. Mai’s mom Pattie decided to help out Willow and give her a place to stay for a little while until the social workers figure something out. Willow becomes even closer with Mai and her brother Quang-ha so that takes away a little drama about the accident. Then talking with Dell got easier for Willow and Willow moved in wi...

Isabella Gagne 7th Grade Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes “Tomas didn’t see the knife. When he drew closer and grabbed hold of Aron’s shirt, Aron thrust his blade into Tomas’s throat.” (page 21) This quote is important because it is the event that causes Jonas, Tomas’s brother, to try to seek vengence against Lord Aron and Princess Cleo, of Aranos. This also causes two King Gaius, of Lumeros, and Chief Basilis,of Pelasia, to make plans to take over Aranos. This power struggle quickly leads to war.

Brandon Lamarre 8th Grade Title: Prisoner B3087 Author: Alan Gratz I read Prisoner B3087 and the quote I found is “I would not give up. I would not turn myself in. I would survive”. The quote is on page 59. I chose to reflect on this quite because this book is all about surviving the Nazi Concentration Camps and even with Yanek’s family dead, he finds the will to want to survive. He wants to survive because he is determined to fight back against the Nazi. The quote is an example of Yanke’s strength and determination he showed throughout the book.

Allie Dundorf 7th Grade What's Left of Me  By, Kat Zhang Quote: "And discovered with a sudden weighless, breathless shock that there was nothing there." Even though in the story she just fell off of a building, this relates to early in the book. The first time her soul sister was drugged, she felt along. She couldn't even move. She couldn't even speak. She could only listen. She listened to what they said but she was still more than scared she had nothing.

Alaina Osborne  8th Grade Counting by 7's  By, Holly Goldberg Sloan Quote: "A second can feel like forever if what follows is heartbreak." In my opinion this quote is important and memorable because it only takes a second for something to happen and have a long lasting affect on you. It is important in the book because the main character was devastated and worried about having to leave the place that she called home. This has a big impact on her because she has to leave her close friends behind. Sometimes it may be difficult to get over the pain, but you have to be strong and move on.

Noa Ruseski 8th Grade In the After , Demetria Lunetta Quote: "I no longer hold that hope. Nothing this broken can ever be fixed.' I picked this quote because saying nothing this broken can ever be fixed means that everything has gone so wrong that things can't go back to how they used to be. In the After  is about alien creatures taking over the world and the quote is saying that things can not ever be the same as they used to be.

Rachel Simmons 8th Grade Blink Once  By, Cylin Busby "She made me realize what I needed, someone to understand me...and that's exactly what Olivia gave me." (page 287) I think this quote has to do with the book because it really shows Wes and Olivia's connection. Olivia is the only person who really understands Wes. In the beginning of the book, he feels like no one gets what he's going through and no one is really helping him, but when Olivia comes around he finally has someone that can help and understand him. I think that's what gives Wes the strength to keep going everyday and get better. Without Olivia and their connection, the book wouldn't be as meaningful.

Evi Fisher 7th Grade Prisoner B-3087 Alan Gratz Quote: “You are no one. You have no name. You do not speak, you do not look at them, you do not volunteer for anything. You work but not so hard that they notice you. This quote is very important to the book because this is how Yanek survived in the numurous camps he went to. If his uncle Moshe didn’t tell him this in his first camp, Plaszow, Yanek most likley would have died. Although he made a few exeptions, this quote was Yanek’s life fr about six years.

Catherine Emery 8th Grade Starters  By, Lissa Price Quote: "Probably my favorite body part. No one ever complained about a fat brain. No one ever accused their brain of being too short or too tall, or too wide or too narrow; or ugly. It either worked or it didn't, and mine worked just fine." (page 39). I think this quote is important because it is telling you how her personality is; she isn't one of those ungrateful people. She's a starter, her parents died when she was young and she's left with only her brother, and her friend. Also, it shows how Callie thinks; she didn't have much growing up like what traditional people have with parents. She had no time to worry about things or what people thought about her because there was only one thing on her mind. Her brother.

Emily Hadden 7th Grade In the After  By, Demetria Lunetta Quote: "Sometimes ignorance isn't bliss. Sometimes it's just dangerous." These wise words from my protagonist, Amy are important to this scene because the people of New Hope are unaware of the dangers in the outside world. They think that there is no one else alive outside of New Hope, but located in what was Texas, there is Fort Black. A gang from Fort Black attacked New Hope by stopping two emitters giving the Floreas a chance to attack. In which killing 418 citizens. The citizens didn't know what to do because they were so convinced that nothing would hurt them while being in range of the emitters. Ignorance isn't bliss. If only New Hope could learn.

Spencer Murphy 8th Grade Title: Prisoner B-3087 Author: Alan Gratz ‘The German turned to look at me with his cold blue eyes, then nodded to the Jewish policeman who carried a sack. “Your valuables.” the officer said. “Now. Or you will be taken away.” - Page 29 This quote shows that the nazis didn’t care who you were, they just wanted your valuable items. Items that could have family or self sentimental value or the could have been of very much cash value. They didn’t think of jews as people but as animals.

Jackson Deely 7th Grade Over the summer I read  Reboot , By Amy Tintera and found many interesting quotes. Some were about romance. Some were about fear. But one stuck out more than the others because it's about emotion and has a hint of humor in it. The quote is "Do that thing where you look blank, like you have no feelings at all. I think that's just my face." This quote shows that Wren doesn't have emotions like us because she is a reboot and was dead for 178 minutes which made her body lose most of the human that was in her. It also shows that people think she has no emotions so they can trust her more and they would never expect her to try and escape from the training facility. This is important because it gives Wren a chance to surprise HARC and escape successfully. That is why I think this is an important quote.

Cam Foley 8th Grade Prisoner B-3087  By, Alan Gratz "I was ten years old, and I had no idea of the nightmare that was to come." This quote is important because he is telling the reader of what horrors are to come as a Jewish boy during the WWII time period. He also tells us how terrible it was going to be in the concentration camps as well as being locked up in his own neighborhood with all the Jewish people in the city.

Gabe Deely 8th Grade Strike Three, You're Dead  By, Josh Berk Quote: "This is a tragedy tonight folks. A young man cut down in the summer of his youth. A brillant young arm with a future as bright as the sun. Dead." (page 74) I chose this quote because it is a really big breaking point in the book. This is when the pitcher mysteriously dies and the book gets exciting. The mystery plot then begins because the next day a letter is sent saying that there were no drugs or anything harmful involved in the death. It's like he just fell asleep. There was nothing wrong with him. That's when Lenny and his friends must find out how the young star pitcher died.

Carlson Hill 7th Grade Falling Kingdoms  By, Morgan Rhodes Quote: "They're desperate because they have nothing. While I have everything." (page 203) This quote is important because it shows that Princess Cleiona from Auranos, kingdom of the rich, realizes why the "savages" from Paelsia, kingdom of the poor, behave the way they do. She truly understands how hard they struggle just to survive and how she's privileged to have everything she needs.

Alysen Brown 8th Grade Prisoner B-3087  By, Alan Gratz Quote: "If I had known what the next six years of my life were going to be like, I would have eaten more. I wouldn't have complained about brushing my teeth, or taking a bath, or going to bed at eight o' clock every night. I would have played more. Laughed more. I would have hugged my parents and told them I loved them. But I was ten years old, and I had no idea of the nightmare that was to come. None of us did."  I chose this quote because you never know what will happen in the future. You should make the most of your life right now in case something bad happens. You should live each day as though it is your last. If any of us were in Yanek's situation, we would've wished we did the same thing.

Bryan Lawrence 8th Grade Reboot  By, Amy Tintera Quote: "What do they care," she spat, throwing the comforter down as she crawled in. "They've killed me." (page 132) I chose this quote because she is mad that she was killed by the humans and then became a reboot. She also calls her own kind humans for example, "the humans killed me." It is weird because she is practically human, but dead. All she wants is to go back to the living and be with her family. When she says, "what do they care?" she means that the humans don't care what happens to the reboots and kill each other to make hundreds of reboots a day. They are always watching, always listening, and are walking on every spot in the world. When she says "they've killed me," she means that she is just one more reboot to live in the dark place of their own kind. This quote is important because the quote tells you what she thinks about the human race. It i...

Bode Harmon 7th Grade Book: Strike three you’re Dead Author:Josh Berk Quote: "Rules are rules." The quote pg.81 The quote is important to the story because when the main character Lenny Norback wins a contest to announce a inning at a Phillies game. In the first inning before he can announce a new pitcher R.J Weathers comes to the mound after giving up 8 runs the coach comes to talk to him when the coach leaves R.J drops dead on the mound. When Lenny he is really sad and he is begging to use his computer and his phone because when its summer his electronics are taken. His mom get so mad she tells to go to bed and she repeats her favorite statement “Rules are rules.”
Image
Sam Wentworth 8th Grade Strike Three, You're Dead  By, Josh Berk Quote: "I'd get to announce a game with all of my favorite players on the field- and maybe R.J. Weathers! Get this: rumor had it he was going to come up from the minors and pitch his first game in late July. I wondered if I'd get to meet him. Little did I know I would watch him die." (page 54) This is important to the story because it shows how he is a big baseball fan and gets to meet his favorite players like R.J. Weathers. He would get to announce at a game and get to witness his death. This makes the reader want to read to the end of the book and see what happens.

Haley Peek 7th Grade Blink Once  By, Cylin Busby Quote: "Sometimes at night when I was at the pool, in the quiet stillness underwater, my mind would go to that place. To the hospital, to the people there. It was as if my heart could travel." (page 287) I thought this quote I found was important because it shows the power of memory to just be calm and imagine the places that make you feel better when you miss something, someone, or somewhere. Some memories can be unpleasant to make yourself be calm but thats the power of memories because it can be that strong.

Nils Jobe 8th Grade Starters – Lissa Prince On page 50 “No one ever complained about a fat brain. No one ever accused their brain of being too short or too tall, too wide or too narrow. Or ugly. It either worked or it didn't, and mine worked just fine.”            I think this quote is memorable because it truly explains that people shouldn’t care what something looks like as long as it works. For example, does it really matter what pencil you use? Barbie or a regular pencil, they both do the same thing. Another example might be if you had a skateboard, one you have used for a while and has some scratches on and the other might be brand new. Both still work but the new one might have a cooler design but in the end it doesn’t matter. You only really need something new when the thing you have is smashed or completely destroyed.
Image
Keith Ordway 8th Grade Prisoner B-3087 “To suffer quietly is to hurt only you.” This explains the way of life in a prison camp. If in every way possible you try to not bring attention to yourself then you, with luck, will find yourself getting out alive. A lot of luck actually. The second part of the quote is, “To suffer loudly and fight back, is to hurt others around you.” In one instance, a few prisoners tried to escape. The Nazis role called everybody out to make them stand until the others were found. When the others were found, they were beaten to death. But it did not stop there. Every single person that worked with the now dead prisoners were shot.  Then the Nazis officer opened fire on all the other prisoners until his gun was empty.

Matt Cusack 8th Grade The Heartbreak Messenger Alexander Vance Page 251: (Conversation between Quentin and Rob) “Busy with some things.” “Messenger things?” “Yeah. More or less.” “Who was the victim this time? This is a powerful quote because its clear that Quentin does not much like talking about his work, as it is emotional and takes a toll on him too, over time. Calling the people who Quentin is sent to send the breakup message to, “victims”, is also powerful as they are treated and feel as such, knowing that their now ex- boyfriend/girlfriend didn’t have the guts to say it to their face.
