Whats Left of Me By, Kat Zheng
Quote: "I was terrified. I was eleven years old, and though I'd been told my entire short life that is was only natural for the recessive soul to fade away, I didn't want to go. I wanted twenty thousand more sunrises, three thousand more hot summer days at the pool. I wanted to know what it was like to have a first kiss. The other recessives were lucky to have disappeared at four or five. They knew less." (page 3)
I think this quote is important to the book because it tells you exactly how Eva feels knowing that everyone wants to get rid of her because it is normal and in the society she lives in, it's absolutely not right for her to stay. It tells you why she doesn't want to leave. The quote explains to you that she's scared and explains how she wishes she had faded earlier. Everyone who faded early hadn't experienced much, but Eva knows so much more and longs to experience so much more.
