Kaila Lambiasi 7th Grade Quote: “Let’s face it: I’m an old man. My time on this earth is short. I don’t want to be remembered as the worst ever.”           Page 247, Strike Three, You’re Dead by Josh Berk. This quote is important to the story because the character saying it, Blaire or “Blaze” O’Farrell is speaking the truth, facts. An old man would have less time left on earth to right any wrongs he has done than a child would. Nobody wants to be remembered as the worst ever at anything; whether it be a simple game a child plays every day, or to be the baseball player with the worst ERA (Earned Run Average). After you die, you’d really want to be known as the best at something, not the worst.

Lauren Rose 7th Grade What's Left of Me , By: Kat Zhang Quote: "We tried to form the word in our five-year-old mouth, tasting it on our tongue. Set-Tull-Ling." (pg. 1)             I believe this quote is important to the story because Addie and Eva don't really understand what the word settling means. A five-year-old kids definition of settling is, one of them is supposed to take control and the other fades away. For Addie and Eva it's not like that. Everyone believes that they have settled and Eva has left. But Eva is in there and she isn't leaving.

Shannon Foulds    7th Grade Blink Once , Cylin Busby Quote: “As we pulled out of the parking lot, I didn’t look back. I had what I needed with me. Always.” Paragraph: Blink Once was a great book! It was interesting how Olivia and West could communicate, even though West was in a coma. I also found it interesting when they fell in love. It didn’t matter that they never spoke, because somehow they had this connection that allowed them to know each other well enough to be in love. Nobody else believed or understood West’s stories about Olivia. Blink Once was definitely a shocking and clever story.

Cam Plona 7th Grade Strike Three You're Dead By, Josh Berk Page: 242 Quote:   "That sounds like a pretty good 'why.' Nobody wants to go down in history as the worst ever at something." I think that this is a good quote because it is true, no one wants to go down as the worst at something ever. I think this is memorable because in the book the worst player in history (at the time) kills a new pitcher that is having even a worse game than he had. So in detail the older worse pitcher kills the young pitcher so that the older one will not be the worse anymore and the younger pitcher will be the worse instead. So this concludes that he had a pretty good reason to kill the pitcher from his viewpoint. If I was the older pitcher I would have accepted that I was the worse ever and coached the pitcher recover from his bad start, because if he had coached him than he would have been more remembered as a good coach than a bad player. If he had helped the...

Jordyn Fortier 8th Grade What's Left of Me By:Kat Zhang Page Number: 1 Quote: ‘It meant one of us was supposed to take control.’ I think that the quote above is important/memorable because, throughout the beginning of the book it says that either Addie or Eva were suppose to take control, since both of them are born together in the same body, one of them was suppose to stay while the other fades away. Like the other soul pretty much dies. But neither Addie nor Eve take control, so they are still together in the same body. Which is going against the rules, because once you reach the age of 5 or 6 one of the souls should have ‘faded away’ leaving just one soul in the body.

Cloey Claytor 8th Grade Blink Once Cylin Busby Page:7 "Just blink once for yes and twice for no." I think this quote is important to the story because the first person he saw after he awoke from the accident in the hospital; she was the one he ended up loving and trusting she taught him that. That's also how he communicated the hole time he was paralyzed, and that's the first thing he learned to do after he woke up well before he remembered anything.

Alie Santin 8th Grade Blink Once , by: Cylin Busby Page: 12 Quote: " This can't be happening, this is a dream. A bad dream. " Why I chose this quote and why I think its memorable: I loved this quote because its true. I believe its true for most people. That they feel like this every time they make a mistake. I also like this quote because it shows so much in one little sentence. That one little sentence shows so much about Blink Once . And I thought that this was the only quote that people could relate to in Blink Once .

Reese Johnson 8th Grade Counting by 7s by: Holly Goldberg Sloan Page: 25  Quote: "But none of the research provided much enlightment on my number one area of real interest: Teenage friendship. If the media is to be believed, teenagers are too busy breaking laws and trying to kill themselves and the people around them to form any bonds of attachment. Unless, of course those bonds produce a teenage pregnancy. " I believe this quote is important because it shows how much Willow is separated from the real world and how she is so antisocial that she needs to look up on the internet and research how to form a friendship with other teenagers. She doesn’t have any friends. Her only friends are her adopted parents, then theres the accident, and her garden.

Dylan Butler 7th Grade The Paladin Prophecy - Mark Frost Quote Page: 32-33 Quote: "Life changing opportunities around every corner I made friends I knew instantly would be mine forever I gained a feeling of confidence and belonging that's stayed with me my whole life." Paragraph: In my opinion, I think that this quote is important because the main character Will is talking about his entire life and gaining confidence through his life changing opportunities and how he made friends through those opportunities. Also, this kind of tells more about the book or Will and his character opens up more to the reader.

Travis Golden 7th Grade Title: What’s left of me Author: Kat Zhang Page number: 51-52 Quote: ”We launched forward and smashed into the security guard’s side. the man grunted but didn’t seem particularly hurt.” I think this quote is important because it shows that eva and addie ,the main characters, are brave. It shows that they are brave because they are brave enough to try to tackle the guard. This quote also shows how physically helpless she is. It shows this by telling the reader that she didn’t even hurt the guard that she lunged at.

Welcome to Ms. Chapman's Reading Blog! I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer! I have been having a great time relaxing, going to the beach, and spending time with my dog Lucy. I have also read many great books so far this summer.  Also, a big thumbs up to Travis Golden for being the first person to complete their summer reading assignment :) I will continue to post your blogs as they come in. I just finished reading the book Enclave  by Ann Aguirre. This book was on the Isinglass Teen Read list last year and it is about a girl who lives in an enclave underground. Her role is a "hunter" which means she has to go out into the dark tunnels and bring back meat to feed the rest of the group. She also has to kill scary monsters known as Freaks. She is a very determined character and she will do what ever it takes to succeed in this position, until she gets a partner named Fade. Then everything changes...I think one of the most significant quotes appears towards the end...
