Quote: “Let’s face it: I’m an old man. My time on this earth is short. I don’t want to be remembered as the worst ever.”

This quote is important to the story because the character saying it, Blaire or “Blaze” O’Farrell is speaking the truth, facts. An old man would have less time left on earth to right any wrongs he has done than a child would. Nobody wants to be remembered as the worst ever at anything; whether it be a simple game a child plays every day, or to be the baseball player with the worst ERA (Earned Run Average). After you die, you’d really want to be known as the best at something, not the worst.
