I believe this quote is important because this is when he feels more comfortable with the fact that Elizabeth can see him. This also shows that he starts to have stronger feelings for her. He feels a part of the world and more like a normal visible person at this point. He has lots of mixed emotions about this feeling. It was a new thing that he gets to enjoy. This quote explains his emotions in an unique way.
