Quote: "Piper gripped the iron railing tighter. She was tired of feeling sorry for herself. If having this magical talent meant she could help the 401’s crew, well, that was worth exploring."
I chose this quote from the book The Mark of the Dragonfly by Jaleigh Johnson because it really ties into one of the main themes; finding yourself and who you really are. Throughout the story, the protagonist, Piper, discovers the gifts of her magical talent. She is a synergist, which means she can somehow tell machines what to do and she can easily mend them if they become broken. At first, Piper sees herself as a monster for having such an odd and unique talent. Later, she realizes that having this power comes in handy when she finds out a secret about her friend, Anna, who will need Piper’s help when trouble finds its way into this fictional, fun tale about friendship, family, adventure, and finding your inner self.
