Rule of Three
Eric Walters
"This time, it turned out to be nothing. Some hunters wandering close to our perimeter in their search for food. But I knew it wouldn't be long before that "something" happened. I just didn't know what or when-today, tomorrow, a week from now- but it was coming."
I believe that in "The Rule of Three", many important themes are demonstrated in the use of character thought and dialogue. The quote from "The Rule of Three", by Eric Walters, on page 275; "This time, it turned out to be nothing. some hunters wandering close to our perimeter in their search for food. But I knew it wouldn't be long before that "something" happened. I just didn't know what or when-today, tomorrow, or a week from now- but it was coming." The main theme being Survival, which evokes a lot of emotion in our basic instincts; sets the tone and overall emotional very well. This makes for intense, meaningful character dialogue. This quote is a very appropriate sample of the book and represents it's multiple elements, emotions and themes very accurately.
