Alice Judge

"Except it also felt so good-so good!- to have spoken."

I chose this quote because Matthew, the main character, always felt as if he had to keep quiet and follow his mother's orders, even if he didn't want to, to keep his sisters safe. Finally, in this scene, he let all of his true emotions pour out and confronted his mother about all of her faults. Obviously, it did not go well. Though I think that it is only a matter of time when, as a human being, you have to speak up about your emotions. I think this quote was probably one of the most important ones in the whole book.
