“Sonia had left the journal right in the center of my pillow, like maybe
she was worried I wouldn't notice it otherwise.”
The reason I choose this quote as the most important quote to this book is because when Lina’s (the main character) mom was passing away from cancer while Lina lived back in Seattle, her mom started to talk about her dad, which had not been in the picture until she started to pass. Linas mom wanted her to move in with her dad who lived in Italy, once she passed so she could meet him. This quote is important because Sonia (another person other than her dad, Howard that owns the cemetery they live on) had found a journal that Linas mom had sent off to Italy right before she passed so alina could read it once she got there. This quote shows the moment that Lina had started her adventure on
finding out more about her parents and why they split via the journal her mom had sent.
