In my mind this quote is important because it idealizes the thought that (as scary as this sounds) you could die at any given moment for any given reason, expected or not. You just can never know for sure. When I read this passage, the first thing that came to mind was that you only live once, so you should take chances even if you fail. Trying and failing is better than failing because you didn't try. Taking chances is what makes up your life, it gives you stories to tell and experience to hold. If nobody took chances everyone would be boring. That's why it's so important to take the chances you are given in life.
