Izabella Oreal
"Just because people do bad things in the name of religion doesn't make the religion bad. People do crappy things, people do awesome things. That's just people." p.156
I found this quote to really stick out at me because I definitely do believe in it as well, and it perfectly sums up how I felt about the other character criticizing Alia's beliefs. I also thought that it was a really monumental moment in the character's development. Alia had been questioning her faith, and up until this point, she had almost seemed scared to show off her Muslim background. She decided to wear her hijab today and felt confident enough to stand up to Islamaphobes, something that the previously shown character would've never done in a million years. I felt proud of her almost, because this quote was really a turning point for her and her confidence with her religion.
