Sam Dupuis
"But I also knew he'd been defending my honor, and it made me almost proud to have him in our family." p.227
This quote is important to the book because it relates to the theme of family and trust. This quote was a thought from one of the main characters, Ashley. She had a hard time adapting to a big change in her family in the start. Then throughout the story, she accepted the change which is proven through this quote when her step-brother did something that was "defending her honor." It also shows that family is supportive and always there, even in the toughest times when it is least expected. Which is a big theme in the book and in real life.
